What exactly is the message here?

Perhaps a brief lack of judgment, let’s hope. I believe that Intel probably wasn’t thinking of the racial implications this ad would have. Here you go Intel.

Is your city a hot spot for your new degree?

August 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

According to a recent poll by Forbes, Tampa is not in the top five cities for young professionals it is actually ranked 40th. The list is as follows:

1. NYC (shocking, but really how are we suppose afford to live there?)

2. San Francisco (another nice expensive city, now with the home run King I might add)

3. ATL (expensive and traffic but they have the Braves)

4. L.A (Smog & Traffic, spend my day in a cubical and then drive 3 hours in my  steel coffin, other than that it sounds great)

5. Washington, D.C (politicians)

6. Boston (wish I could afford to live there, someday)

7. Seattle (Rainy, but really cool city)

8. Minneapolis (Mid-West??)

9. Philly (lower salaries but cost of living is lower)

10. Denver (Mountains and nice weather)

40. Tampa, FLA (Can I say much about that…)

Johnson & Johnson crosses the “Red” Line with a suit against the American Red Cross

August 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I would like to personally congratulate the Johnson & Johnson Corporation for single handily destroying their corporate goodwill. J&J will need a Brand Aid for this greed driven move. Why after 100 years is J&J now going after a symbol of unity and disaster recovery? I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say that it has something to do with money.

Jeffrey J. Leebaw, a spokesman for Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Leebaw said. “We deeply regret that it has become necessary to file this complaint. The company has the highest regard for the American Red Cross and its mission.”

Sure… That is like me saying hey dad I really respect you but I am going to sue you for using the last name that I was given when I was born. Your company is making money off my (brand) name and that’s just not cool. RIDICULIOUS

But wait, J&J has donated over $5 Million dollars over the past three years. I am sure that all of that was a tax write off since they gave the money to a government service. I just hope that if a disaster strikes and J&J needs disaster relief they remember this ridiculously selfish and greedy maneuver. Read more on the NY Times.com site.

The Secret to Career Success…Emotional Intelligence

August 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

EQ verus IQ. That is precisely the question. A recent study has found that emotional intelligence has more of an impact on career success than standard intelligence. Stress is the #1 cause for poor job performance. Stress effects your relationship with co-workers, managers, and clients in a negative way.

Good news is that unlike your IQ your EQ can be improved. Work environments that are more social and less restrictive seem to have the most success. Interesting isn’t it, who would ever think that would create a more enjoyable atmosphere.

After getting the Hook, Peter Pan returns from Never Neverland

August 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I am not sure about any of you but I am not going to be making a mad dash to the grocery store to pick up a jar of Peter Pan peanut butter.

Peter Pan

The infamous yellow cap and red label seemed unassuming at one time…Can anyone say re-branding. I for one prefer the organic peanut butter that has the oil on the top that, yes you do have to stir it, I know extra work. The ironic thing is that I had never purchased Peter Pan until the week of the recall. I heard on the radio that Conagra had recalled the Peter Pan brand peanut butter and that anyone who had purchased it should check the code on the jar… and as luck would have it I had the recalled code, why could this not have been a lottery ticket instead.

So that was my first and last time purchasing old Peter Pan. I am sure that Peter Pan will be back on shelves and people will once start buying the product again but I won’t be. Like most things companies may have a product that failedand eventually people start buying the product again.

I think they should call the peanut butter Captain Hook from now on, but that’s just my opinion. Read more about this at forbes.com
